Ray Tulafono Jr. is Chief Information Officer for ASG

Mr. Ray Tala Tulafono Jr. has been appointed as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the American Samoa Government.

In an announcement yesterday, Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula said CIO Tulafono is a seasoned professional in the digital sector, holding an MBA and various industry-specific certifications.

“With more than 20 years of experience as an information technology executive, he brings with him a strong background in IT strategic planning and systems management that will be instrumental in elevating the government’s technological capabilities,” said the Governor.

Tulafono will head the Office of Information Technology whose tasks are:

Assist and Support: Provide operational backstop and technical expertise to individual departments as they navigate their specific technological needs.

Establish a Coordination Framework: Build a centralized structure for the development of IT policies and the standardized use of technology across the ASG.

Enhance Communication: Create a clear channel for interdepartmental IT dialogue to ensure that government-wide policies are cohesive and effectively implemented.

Cybersecurity and Data Security: Assess the current state of ASG’s IT infrastructure: Establish and maintain robust protocols to protect government data, ensure system integrity, and safeguard the Territory’s digital infrastructure.
