
The American Samoa Medicaid State Agency is putting emphasis on preventive health care as a way to reduce the need for off island medical referrals.
The theme of the Annual Medicaid Summit set for March 24-25 is “Strengthening a health-resilient American Samoa through prevention.
Medicaid Director Luisa Kuaea said the feedback from participants help inform Medicaid of what services should be covered.
She said the Medicaid budget is limited so preventive health care is vitally needed to reduce the need for off island referrals.

Though the summit doesn’t happen for several weeks, Medicaid encourages early registration as seating is limited.
