There’s been an increase in RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) cases and the Department of Health is urging residents to take preventive measures to help reduce the spread of the virus.

RSV is a common cold-like virus and symptoms include a runny nose, cough, wheezing, fever, decreased appetite, and trouble breathing.

DOH says babies, older adults, and people with health problem can get very sick from RSV.

To help reduce transmission of RSV, DOH advices washing hands often, covering cough and sneezes, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, avoiding close contact with sick people, keeping infants away from crowds, and staying home if you are sick.

If conditions worsen, visit the nearest health center or LBJ Hospital.
