The Tafuna and Samoana JROTC teams who competed in the 8th Brigade Aerial Drone Competition held in Reno, Nevada returned home Monday night with awards.
The Samoana team won the Communications Championship and Skills Championship and placed 2nd for Team Work. 
The Tafuna JROTC 96799 A team won the All Around Championship which is the highest award of the competition, and the Team Work Championship. It placed second in the Skills Championship.
The Tafuna JROTC 96799 B Team was also awarded the Team Work Championship.
Held February 13 & 14, 2026 at the Grand Sierra Resort the drone competition had 54 teams from across the West Coast and Pacific Islands.
Both the Samoana and Tafuna drone teams are now eligible to compete in the All Service Aerial Drone Competition in Columbus, Georgia.
