
Governor Pulaali’i Nikolao Pula has appointed a long serving employee of the Department of Treasury, Mrs Carrie–Lee Magalei -Tulafono as Acting Treasurer.
“Carri-Lee is a veteran of the Treasury Department with a wealth of knowledge and experience that includes analysis of federally funded grant programs administered by ASG, the integrated financial systems that ASG has used over these several years and even payroll and disbursement,” said the Governor.
“In her considerable time with Treasury Carri-Lee has shown herself to be hardworking, adept and extremely capable.”
The appointment is effective immediately.
Magalei-Tulafono has been with Treasury since 2003 and was most recently the Chief Accountant.
The appointment of the new Acting Treasurer comes nearly two weeks after the House of Representatives rejected former Acting Treasurer Brett Butler in a second vote.
Governor Pulaali’i has said that Butler will continue to work for the Governor’s Office and with Treasury utilizing his financial expertise.
