
The architect and Project Manager for the new Fono Building, Mark Lively, has been served notice that his contract will not be extended.
Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean and House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale informed Mr. Lively in a February 2, 2026 letter that they had received his request to extend his contract which expired on December 31, 2025. “Regrettably, your services are no longer needed and we are not able to accommodate your request,” wrote the Fono leaders. “As of the date of this letter, the invoiced work you do for the project shall discontinue.”
Mr. Lively was also informed that any final invoices he may have should be submitted within 14 days from February 2.
The Fono leaders acknowledged that since the beginning of the design and construction of the new Legislative Building, Mr. Lively and his company served as the main architect and project manager. “Years of hard work went into achieving its current level of completion and we are grateful for help in reaching the various milestones we set out over the years.”
The President and Speaker thanked Mr. Lively for his service to the Fono and government, and wished him and his company all the best.
What’s remaining of the new Fono building is construction of offices for lawmakers.
