Attorney General Gwen Tauiliili-Langkilde says the two days of discussion with officials of the Samoa Government last week reflect a shared recognition that continued coordination, and information sharing between the two Samoa is essential to protecting our borders and public safety.

The Attorney General, Commissioner of Public Safety Taaga Saite Moliga, Director of Homeland Security Veletagaloa Glenn Lefiti, and officials from DPS and Customs took part in the discussions with their Samoa counterparts.

Tauiliili-Langkilde said they were warmly welcomed by Samoa Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt and Samoa government officials. Their talks focused on mutual national security issues such as immigration and drug trafficking.

The AG added that they discussed ways to “closing the gaps in communication and coordination between our two governments…gaps that drug traffickers will no longer be able to exploit.”

There will be follow-up talks when the inter-Samoa meeting takes place in May.
