The new Superintendent of the National Park of American Samoa, Paul PT Lathrop, has begun in his new role. This week he was officially introduced to Lt Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr.

Joined by Park Liaison Pua Tuaua, they discussed park activities and future plans for the National Park of American Samoa.

Lt Governor Pulumataala expressed his full support for their work in maintaining and valuing the parks and extended appreciation for the leaders and their team’s dedication to the community.

Mr Lathrop was most recently Chief of interpretation, education, outreach, and volunteers at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.

Last year he completed a detail at NPSA, working closely with staff and community partners.

At the meeting with the Lt Governor, Mr Lathrop or PT as he’s known to Park employees said he was proud to serve the National Park System and considered it an honor to protect American Samoa’s sacred lands: a true measure of the islands.
