The interim Chairwoman of the Board of AMA, the =American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund Members Association, (AMA) Vaitinasa Dr Salu Hunkin-Finau is optimistic that there will be a good turnout for what she believes is the first meeting of retirees and active contributors of the government pension fund.

She explains that reports about the millions of dollars owed by the government to the Retirement Fund is what triggered the organizing group’s resolve to organize members to voice their concerns. She said she is among 20 retirees who are organizing the first meeting to be held this Saturday at the Nu’uuli Vocational Technical High School Gym. Registration begins at 8:30 am.

Vaitinasa said, “This is our money and we need to know the status of the Fund.” She said in her ten years as a retiree she’s never received a report of how the funds are invested and the financial viability of the fund in the future.

She said the meeting on Saturday will be an opportunity for retirees and contributors to ask questions, express their concerns and voice their opinions.
