Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula is adding new personnel to the Department of Corrections.
In a December 23 letter to the Acting Director of the Department of Corrections Vaipuna Foifua Foifua Jr., the Governor stated that to ensure the safety, security and effective management of correctional facilities, “I am directing you to formally designate” Punefu Eddie Aiumu as Deputy Director and Faafeo Lagafuaina as the Governor’s Office Representative.
The Governor expressed confidence that the two individuals possess the experience and energy necessary to support the Department of Corrections critical mission. He also assured the Acting Director of the Governor’s Office full support.
The Governor asked that the Acting Director coordinate with the Department of Human Resources to execute necessary personnel actions to finalize the designations without delay.
Aiumu was formerly the administrator for the Department of Corrections but had resigned. Lagafuaina is the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Governor’s Office.
