It was a sad start to the new year for a family in Vatia. They lost a father/grandfather in a car accident Saturday afternoon near the Afono pass.
The cause of the one car accident is under investigation and efforts to obtain information were not successful.
A relative confirmed with KHJ News that three people were in the vehicle, the man who died, his daughter and her husband who was the driver. The three were rushed to the hospital however efforts to save the man’s life were unsuccessful. The daughter and her husband survived.
According to the relative, the deceased was in his 70’s.
