Commissioner: Relatively peaceful Christmas

The Christmas holidays have been relatively peaceful, says Commissioner of Public Safety Taaga Saite Moliga.

He said very few drivers were caught behind the wheel while intoxicated, and police mostly had to deal with alcohol-related disturbances at home.

Police are looking for a suspect in an incident in Vaitogi Sunday night, during which a gun was fired.

Police responded to complaints about bamboo guns, but the culprits had disbanded when they arrived.

The Commissioner is hopeful that the New Year celebrations will remain incident-free and calls on the public’s support to maintain law and order as we farewell 2025 and 2026 begins.
