The heavy down pour on Sunday night caused the National Weather Service rain gauge in Tafuna rising to 192.5 inches.
This surge set a new rainfall record for American Samoa, surpassing the previous record of 191.39 inches set in 2020.
With scattered showers in the forecast for the next few days and a trough to the south of the islands, more inches are expected to be added to the 2025 rainfall total.
