Last Saturday’s cargo flight, which was the last one before Christmas Day, brought in 20,000 pounds of mail. And Postmaster Tao Suani and her staff aim to have all of that mail sorted and placed in mail boxes, along with a container of mail that arrived Monday by sea.
According to the Post Master, there’s been a drop in packages arriving by air, while container mail sent by sea has increased. She says the local Post Office now receives a 40-foot container of mail twice a month, and sometimes three times a month. In previous years, it would get a 20-foot container of mail once or twice a month.
The Post Office is opened regular hours on Tuesday. On Christmas Eve, Wednesday, it will open at 8:30 am and closes at 1 p.m.
The Post Office will be closed on Christmas Day. While other federal agencies will also take Friday, December 26, off, the the Post Office will be open regular hours that day.
