Samoa has a new Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.

Faleata 4 member of Parliament, Ale Vena Ale, was sworn-in at a special Parliamentary ceremony held at the Tuanaimato Multipurpose Gym Tuesday morning. Ale replaces former minister and member for Safata 1 electorate Seve Te’i Fuimaono, who lost her seat in a post election petition.

Ale was a former member of the Human Rights Protection Party, and following HRPP’s loss in 2021, Ale called for the party leader to step down before leaving the party in 2022.

He won the ensuing by-election and joined the FAST party.

Ale again won his seat at the August general elections defeating Human Rights Protection Party’s candidate Pepe Christian Fruean by 500 votes.

He was serving as Associate Minister of Health before being appointed as Natural Resources and Environment Minister.
