House Representative for Saole, Dr. Vaasa Uluiva Simanu, has donated her $3,000 gift from the opening of the new Fono building for community causes.
Her assistant, Vanessa Simanu, told KHJ News that the faipule has donated the money to the Samoana football team and toward the purchase of paint for Fagaitua High School.
All senators and representatives received checks of $3,000 to celebrate the opening of the new Maota Fono, while the Senate President and House Speaker received $5,000.
Other faipule who donated their $3,000 for community causes included Reps. Malaeoletalu Melesio Gurr and Trude Ledoux–Sunia.
