
The Department of Education has announced the winners of the High School Science Symposium held December 5.
The Science Symposium is a STEAM program which encourages students to conduct original research in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
A total of 32 students submitted research papers which were reviewed by off island scientists and university faculty who selected the top 10 finalists to present on symposium day before local judges. Because some of the entries were tied, a total of 16 students made the finalists list and all presented their papers at the symposium.

Usually the top students attend the Pacific Science Symposium for Science and Sustainability coordinated by the Hawaii Academy of Science however the Hawaii symposium is currently suspended.
