
The new CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, Diana Burkett Rakow, says Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata has raised the issue of Hawaiian Air fares on the Honolulu-Pago Pago route being more expensive than fares between Honolulu and the U.S. West Coast, even though the distance is about the same.
She explained in an interview with KHJ News that fares are not based on distance but on various inputs to what it takes to serve an area.

Rakow, who was in the territory for a one-day visit, said that since Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines combined, they have worked to improve flight connections for those traveling via Honolulu to the mainland.

According to the new CEO, Hawaiian Airlines will be changing its flight schedule on the Honolulu-Pago Pago route from Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday flights to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday flights starting next April.
