Two killed in stabbing incident in Nu’uuli

Two people were killed in a stabbing incident on the evening of Thanksgiving Day last Thursday near Coconut Point in Nu’uuli. (KHJ News sincerely apologizes for initially reporting this as a shooting).

Acting Commissioner of Public Safety Falanai Taase Sagapolutele said the two were in a vehicle when they were stabbed by a 41-year-old male assailant.

They were pronounced dead on arrival at the LBJ Hospital.

The suspect, the husband of the women who was killed, turned himself into the Fagatogo police station that same evening.

Falana’i said a warrant for the suspect’s arrest was served on Saturday, and he is being charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder, two counts of manslaughter, and two counts of first-degree assault.

According to the Acting Commissioner, the suspect and the two victims are all Asians.

He said police are still gathering evidence for their investigation, and he would not comment on a possible motive at this time.

The suspect owns a building supply store in Nu’uuli.
