Attorney General Gwen Tauiliili-Langkilde has given her reaction to the conviction of defendants in two major drug cases: former customs officer Sheehan Sam Seigafo and Ollie Schuster.
A jury found Seigafo guilty of bribery, attempted bribery of a public servant, importation of contraband and undeclared merchandise, and attempted tampering with evidence.
In a bench trial, Schuster convicted her of one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of possession of methamphetamine.
The AG said, “We would like to firstly commend the Customs Office and those Customs officers who went beyond the call of duty—their actions reflect the highest standards of public service. We would also like to acknowledge the critical and professional investigative support of the Department of Public Safety, as well as the investigative resources provided by the Department of Homeland Security as well as our federal law enforcement partners.
“And finally, we are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication of our prosecutors and prosecution team whose tireless advocacy was central to securing the verdicts in these cases.”
Tauiliili-Langkilde noted, “These cases highlight the importance of collaboration amongst our law enforcement agencies as well as reflect our ongoing commitment to building a safer future for our children.”
