The bench trial of Ollie Schuster wrapped up around 7 Friday evening.
Schuster is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. \\
On July 26, 2024, Schuster picked up a box from the Pago Pago Post Office which was addressed to her. Customs agents found in the box 38 vacuum sealed packages containing crystal methamphetamine. The total weight of the methamphetamine was 39.9 lbs.
A key witness for the prosecution Customs Officer Leiato Faaoso testified that he had received messages from another custos agent Sheehan Sam Seigafo that morning that someone was picking up the box. He said Seigafo gave the Post Office box number 3655 but he never gave the name of the person picking up the box.
Faaoso also said that Seigafo had offered $3,000 for his assistance with this box.
He recalled that Seigafo was in the Post Office parking lot and saw from a distance when the box that Schuster picked up was inspected in the customs tent situated in front of the Post Office.
He said while the inspection was underway Seigafo kept messaging him and asking what’s going on. After the discovery of the methamphetamine, Faaoso said he sent Seigafo a message, “Sorry uso.” Seigafo replied, “That’s cool brother” but asked that Faaoso not mention his name.
Schuster’s attorney, Assistant Public Defender Stanislaw Krawieski asked Faaoso if Seigafo mentioned Ollie Schuster’s name in any of his messages and the answer was negative. He also asked Faaoso if he ever found out who the sender of the box with the drugs was and the answer was no.
Also questioned via VTC on Friday was forensic chemist Robert Reasa, who analyzed the crystal methamphetamine that was sent to the DEA for testing. He said that the tests proved that the crystalline substances in the vacuum sealed packages that were sent for testing, were crystal methamphetamine.
Acting Associate Justice Elvis Patea with Associate Judges faamausili Pomele and Paepae Faiai presided in the 2 day trial.
