Acting Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr. has ordered that flags in the territory be lowered Thursday, Nov 20 and Friday, Nov 21 in honor of the late High Talking Chief Fofo Iosefa Fiti Sunia who passed away on October 14.
“This symbol of reverence serves as a testament to a mentor, public servant, protector of the Samoan language and culture, and statesman, and a former U.S. Delegate to Congress,” said the Acting Governor.
“HTC Fofo Sunia’s love and commitment to our Territory are reflected throughout his many years of dedicated public service. His legacy and contributions will continue to guide future generations, for his compassion and devotion to serving our people will never be forgotten.
“As we lower our flags to half-staff, let this act serve as a visible reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe HTC Fofo Sunia and to all the great leaders who have helped preserve the ideals of our democracy and the foundation of the Fa’aSamoa.”
Funeral services for HTC Fofo are being held Thursday and Friday.
