A young woman who pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of second-degree property damage has been placed on probation for 24 months.
The charge stems from an incident where she damaged a Wi-Fi box that belonged to her mother.
Faith Tago is credited for the 114 days she spent at the Territorial Correctional Facility. She is to remain law-abiding, must not use alcohol or drugs, and must be tested for substance use as required. She must also find gainful employment within 60 days. Tago is also to pay a fine of $150.
Her attorney, Assistant Public defender Stanislaw Krawieski, asked for a probated sentence, noting that his client did not have a prior record and her offence did not result in physical injury to anyone. He said she has made improvements to her life, and her mother has attested that that she is helping around the house and the issues which led to her offence are behind them now.
Prosecutor Assistant Attorney General Marcellus Uiagalelei agreed with the Probation Office report for the defendant to be placed on probation.
The sentence was delivered by Associate Justice Elvis Patea, flanked by Associate Judges Suapaia Edmund Pereira and Paepae Joseph Faiai.
