Samoa police say the perpetrators of horrific violent acts against a woman have been identified as “family members of a well-known criminal in Samoa,” although no arrests have been made so far.

Samoa Global News reports that a disturbing video circulating on social media shows a woman being physically assaulted with a wooden plank while another person ties her to a pole, and another is seen cutting her hair with a pair of scissors.

Samoa Police say the assault took place on Friday, 31 October, and the victim’s finally reported the incident to police on November 5.

The victim was attacked in her own home by her in-laws, three women and two men, all relatives of her husband.

The attackers filmed the incident and circulated it on social media themselves.
