Visiting the territory this week is Molly Schmidt, Red Cross Regional Chief Executive Officer for the Pacific Islands Region. She and two other officials—Julie Greenly, Director of Services to the Armed Forces and International Services, and Reginal Disaster officer Renise Bayne—are here to reaffirm the Red Cross commitment to serving American Samoa.
The officials met with Governor Pualalii Nikolao Pula on Tuesday and will also visit members of the Fono.
Schmidt said they want to build partnerships and provide awareness of the Red Cross mission in disaster preparedness and response, as well as service to the Armed Forces and veterans.
A guest on the Morning Show, she noted that the Red Cross depends on volunteers and donations.
