
Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula has appointed new members to the Board of Directors of the American Samoa Economic Development Authority (ASEDA).
They are:
- Owen Peery – CEO and President of the Territorial Bank of American Samoa
- Brett Butler – Acting Treasurer
- Aliimuamua Magdalene Pepe Petaia – Director of Commerce
- Earl Mokoma – Governor’s Office
- Barney Sene – Director of Port Administration
- Uaealesi Dora Faumuina-Sipelii – Deputy Director of Public Works
- Falenaoti Loi-On Fruean – former Director of Port Administration.
The governor said Mrs. Fruean will remain as a member of the ASEDA Board, as her term expires on June 30, 2027.
“Her experience and background will provide the continuity in infrastructure, project management and deep commitment to improving the quality of life for the territory.”
As the Legislature is not currently in session, these are recess appointments, which are effective immediately and will expire at the end of the next regular or special session of the Legislature.
The governor said he will submit the names of the board members to the Fono for confirmation at the next regular session in January.
Former members of the ASEDA Board being replaced include Faleosina Voigt – former Director of Public Works; Fainuulelei Alailima-Utu – former Attorney General; Malemo Tausaga – former Treasurer; Terry VanEaton – former Governor’s Legal Counsel; Ti’alemasunu Dr. Mikaele Etuale – former Chief Procurement Officer; and Petti Matila – former Director of Commerce.
The Fono members on the ASEDA Board are Senator Magalei Logovii and Rep. Sauasetaua Tautoloitua Ho Ching.
