An employee of the American Samoa Power Authority, Chris Seui, has been charged in connection with the drug bust at the Pago Pago Post Office earlier this week.

Seui is being held on $20,000 bail and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, and importation of contraband.

According to court filings, Seui, who is employed as a courier for the American Samoa Power Authority, went to the Post Office on Tuesday, October 28 to collect ASPA’s weekly mail. He also checked mail from his personal mailbox. During a routine inspection of a postal flat-rate box that0 Seui had collected from his personal mailbox, customs agents discovered three medium-sized clear packages containing white crystalline substances concealed among clothing items.

Customs then contacted police, and two officers went ahead to the Post Office to investigate.

When Seui was asked about the contents of the box, he denied ownership. One of the T-shirts inside the box contained what appeared to a bulky object inside.

Upon unfolding the T-shirt, customs agents discovered the three medium sized clear packages containing white crystalline substances. The substance was later tested by the Vice and Narcotics Division, and the results came back positive for crystal methamphetamine.

Customs sources have told KHJ News that the crystal meth found weighed close to one pound.

Seui made his initial appearance in District Court Friday morning. His preliminary examination is set for November 7.
