The 2025/2026 national budget for Samoa was passed late Tuesday night after members voted on the appropriation bill that was introduced at the start of the month.

The approved budget totals $921,251,553 tālā and includes the increased annual district grants, which are now $1.8 million tālā per district,  as well as increased payment of social benefits, including pension and disability payments. The budget also introduces a waste levy that comes into effect January 1,2026.

Approval of the budget means government services return to normal following a state of economic emergency declared at the end of September and ending on October 29

During that time, government ministries could only access 25 percent of what was allocated in the previous budget for the months of July, August, and September, which led to government cutbacks, including non-payment of overtime wages.
