Four arrested in brutal assault of head prefect in Samoa

Samoa Police have arrested four men wanted in connection with the beating of the head prefect of a church college, Maluafou last week. The victim is being kept on life support at the national hospital in Motootua.

Acting Police Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga is quoted by the Samoa Observer as saying that police had to chase the four men on foot.

He said the suspects, all between 20 and 25 years old, were arrested at their homes in Vaigaga after police conducted follow-up investigations.

The alleged beating took place last Friday in Vaigaga and the 17-year-old victim was found critically injured and placed on life support when admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

The suspects are being held at police headquarters and are expected to be interviewed and formally charged.
