Four new members nominated to ASPA Board

The Governor has nominated four new members to the Board of Directors of the American Samoa Power Authority.

They are Talaimalo Marcellus Uiagalelei; Tamaalemalo Tasi Mauga, who replaces Leilua Stevenson; Douglas Buhr, who replaces Fonoti Perelini; and Folasa Galeai, who replaces Afalava Eliki Afalava. The nominations have been submitted to the House and Senate for confirmation.

Attorney Talaimalo Uiagalelei is currently the chief prosecutor in the Attorney General’s Office. He was a private attorney for 15 years and served as Assistant Legal Counsel to Governor Togiola Tulafono.

Tamaalemalo Tasi Mauga, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is presently serving as a special advisor to the Senate President. He is a former Director of Administrative Services, was administrator and commissioner for Workmen’s Compensation. and served Personnel and Industrial Manager for StarKist Samoa for four years.

Douglas Buhr is President and Principal Engineer of Douglas Engineering Pacific Inc., based in Hawaii. According to his resume, he is experienced in designing energy-efficient lighting and power systems for a variety of applications, particularly skilled in retrofit renovation and remodel designs. He has project experience in American Samoa dating back to 1988 and has knowledge of the Samoan culture.

Folasa Galeai is an aircraft mechanic for Hawaiian Airlines He previously worked at ASPA as a power generation electrician and power generation operator.
