Samoa Airways has sent its second aircraft off-island for a full retrofit, part of the national carrier’s fleet modernization program.
The retrofit will be carried out by Unity Aviation Canada, following agreements signed with Canadian firms to provide both pilot ferry services and upgrade work.
The refurbishment of the airline’s first aircraft was completed in February.
Samoa Airways said the first project cost more than $10 million tala and was funded directly by the airline. The second upgrade is also financed by the carrier, with support available from the Unit Trust of Samoa (UTOS), if needed.
Chief Executive Officer Fauoo Taua Fatu Tielu said, “We remain focused on building a stronger, more efficient airline that meets international standards and reflects the needs of the Samoan people. The upgrade of our aircraft ensures we continue providing safe, reliable, and comfortable service for our passengers.”
