Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea is sworn in as new PM of Samoa

Laaulialemalietoa Leauatea Polataivao Fosi has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Samoa.

The oath of office was administered this morning by Samoa’s Head of State, Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II, at the Tuana’imato Multipurpose Complex.

Of interest to those attending—and the Samoan population watching on live broadcasts—was the announcement of the new Faatuatua i Le Atua Samoa ua Tasi cabinet ministers.

Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa has introduced two deputy Prime Ministers. Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo takes up the deputy PM post from today until April 2028, after which Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio’o will serve until 2030. Toelupe is also the Minister of Works, while Mulipola is the Minister of Finance.

Former CEO of Health and former vice chancellor of the University of Samoa, Aiono Alec Ekeroma is the Minister of Education and Culture.

Fesola’i Apulu Tuigamala was named Minister of Justice and Courts Administration, while Agaseata Valelio Tanuvasa is the Minister of Communications.

Makesi Masinalupe is the Minister for Customs and Border Control and Anapu Seve Te’i Fuimaono is the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.

Fuimaono Asafo is the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Fo’isala Lilo Tuu Ioane is the Minister of Lands and Environment, and Moefa’auouo Julius Ah Kuoi is the Minister of Women and Community Development.

Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament

Fata Ryan Schuster is the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Labor, the Minister of Health is Vaaaoao Salumalo Alofipo, Pauga Talalelei Pauga is Minister of Revenue, and the Minister of Sports and Recreation is Seuamuli Letufuga Fasi Toma.

Also sworn in today were the new Speaker of Parliament Auapa’au Mulipola Auapa’au and Deputy Speaker Afamasaga Leone Mati Masame.

Governor Pula’ali’i Nikolao Pula and First Lady Dr. Lois Phillips-Pula, Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean and Mrs. Fruean and House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale and Mrs. Ale witnessed the swearing in ceremony.
