As of last Thursday, July 31, the Department of Health has recorded 25 laboratory confirmed cases of dengue fever.

DoH did not identify the villages where the new cases are from. In the last week, DOH teams have been spraying for dengue fever in Leone, Iliili, Faleniu, Vailoa, and Tafuna. This week they will be spraying Pago Pago.

DOH is urging residents to please help stop the spread of dengue fever which is spread by mosquitoes.

Empty and remove containers, buckets, ties and anything holding water.

Use mosquito repellant with DEET especially during early morning and late afternoon when the mosquito species carrying dengue are around.

Wear long sleeves and pants when outdoors.

Repair or reinforce screen windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out.

DoH says it needs the community’s support to stop the spread of dengue and is calling for everyone’s help.
