Two new members named to ASTCA Board of Directors

Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula has appointed two new members to the Baord of Directors of he American Samoa telecommunications Authority.

They are Karen Saele and Omar Shallout.

Mrs. Satele worked for ASTCA for 34 years and has retired.

While working as a full- time employee, she pursued a Bachelor’s in Science degree, majoring in Business Management. “From operator, data entry clerk, customer service, human resources and collection specialist, Mrs. Satele with her experience will be a tremendous change agent for the ASTCA,” said the Governor.

Mr. Shalhout is not new to the ASTCA Board. He previously served for five years as an ASTCA Board member and according to the Governor will continue to share his institutional knowledge and challenges encountered by the previous Board.

He is the CEO of Shalhout Enterprise Inc. and Foodbar Shop. He has expanded his operations to the Manu’a Islands, establishing a strong and growing presence across key markets in American Samoa.

The Governor said Mr Shallout has been successful in identifying market opportunities and build sustainable community-focused ventures in economic fields.

In April the Governor appointed five members to the ASTCA Board: Dave Haleck who is chairman, Alex Sene Jr., Andrew Berquist, Ella Gurr and Lewis Seau.

ASTCA board members do not require Fono confirmation.

The executive order establishing ASTCA provies that terms of board members are two years.
