Half of the 59-member team that is representing American Samoa at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau departed the territory Monday night. The rest of the group is scheduled to leave Tuesday night. The men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams are already in Hawai’i.

On Saturday, the team was presented to the public during the Olympic Day celebrations at Utulei Beach.

During the event, all of the athletes were presented American Samoa flags by Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula and Senator Olo Uluao Letuli. Governor Pulaali’i offered his heartfelt encouragement, assuring the athletes that they carry with them the hopes, prayers, and unwavering support of the entire territory.

On Sunday, a special church service took place at CCCAS Nu’uuli Church, where athletes, coaches, trainers, and team leaders came together in a spirit of reflection and gratitude.

Governor Pulaalii, Lt. Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr., and Senator Noa Togamau, joined ASNOC President Tuiaana Ed Imo, Secretary General Ethan Lake, and Vice President Louis Solaita at the church service.

American Samoa is competing in weightlifting, wrestling, men’s and women’s beach volleyball, women’s indoor volleyball, and women’s softball.

All of the ASG employees on the team—whether athletes, coaches, or support staff—have been granted administrative leave with pay. In a memo to directors, Governor Pulaalii wrote: “This is a proud and significant opportunity for our Territory to be represented on a regional and international platform. Participation in such events not only promotes athletic excellence but also fosters unity and showcases the talent and spirit of our people. In light of this, I respectfully urge each of you to extend administration leave with pay to the individuals listed, for the duration of their involvement in the Pacific Mini Games, without deducting from their annual leave…”
