Lt. Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr. is thanking everyone for their prayers, fasting, and well wishes while he is under medical treatment at Queens Hospital, Honolulu.

In a statement issued on Saturday he said, “Your unwavering support has been a source of strength, renewing my hope, joy, and peace each day. I truly believe that the presence of God, alongside the power of your collective prayers, has carried me through this journey. It is through this faith and encouragement that I feel stronger and more hopeful. As I prepare to return home, I am committed to following my doctor’s orders, maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and prioritizing my well-being.”

The Lt. Governor, who left the territory May 12, said, “Over the past two weeks of travel, moving across various time zones, high elevations, and changing weather conditions, I may have overexerted myself. However, I am now feeling much better under the compassionate and expert care provided by the doctors and nurses at Queen’s Hospital.”

A few final tests and observations remain, but he anticipates being discharged today and returning home shortly after.

Lt. Governor Pulumataala expressed his thanks to Governor Pulaali’i Nikolao Pula and Cabinet; Senate President, HTC Tuāolo Manaia Fruean; the Speaker of the House; Fono members; the Chief Justice and Judiciary staff; veteran colleagues; family and friends in Hawaii, American Samoa, and the U.S. mainland—all of whom have reached out, called, or visited during this time.

He also extended a special thank you to Hawaii Governor Josh Green for his exceptional hospitality and care, which ensured that his well-being remained a priority.

As Philippians 4:19 reminds us: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”

“To my beloved American Samoa, I eagerly look forward to returning home.”

Governor attends Samoa’s Independence Celebrations

Governor Pula’ali’i Nikolao Pula traveled to Samoa on Friday with First Lady Lois Phillips Pula to attend Samoa’s 63rd Anniversary of Independence celebrations.

While he was away—and with the delayed return of Lt. Governor Pulumataala— Attorney General Gwen Tauiliili Langkilde served as Acting Governor, in accordance with the line of succession provided under the law.

The Governor expressed his full confidence in Attorney General Tauiliili-Langkilde’s ability to uphold continuity in the administration’s operations and to support the Office of the Governor in fulfilling its executive duties.

The administration respectfully requests the public’s understanding, prayers, and well wishes for Lieutenant Governor Pulu during this time.
