DoH names farms it closed for various violations

The Department of Health has released the names of the farms which have been closed due to various violations.

The violations include:

  • Burning insecticides like mosquito coils and repellants inside chest freezers used to store agricultural produce grown and harvested on their farms
  • Evidence of chest freezers with burns or discoloration, similar to those found to be used for burning insecticides on-site
  • Waste water from bathrooms, kitchen sinks, and/or washers being disposed directly onto the ground instead of into a sewer line or an approved septic
  • Use of piggery waste and/or human waste used as fertilizers, or farm located adjacent to a piggery
  • Misuse of pesticides on agricultural products
  • Accumulation of debris, trash, and solid waste that can contaminate soil or crops

The farms that have been closed until further notice are:

  • FL Farming, Lepuapua
  • Thanh Ho Duc Farming, Leone
  • K&B Farming, Pavaiai
  • Sitau Farms, Vaitogi

The Department of Health stated that any farm caught with one or more of the aforementioned conditions will be closed, and all agricultural produce will be disposed of.
