
May 29 is the closing date for applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority, The advertisement for the position was posted on the ASTCA Facebook page on May 16.
KHJ News understands that the contract for current CEO Chuck Leota has expired, and he is continuing until a replacement has been hired. Leota was appointed as ASTCA CEO in October 2021, and had been Acting CEO since March of that year following the removal of former CEO Fala Sualevai.
The advertisement for the CEO position doesn’t state any specific academic, technical credentials, or employment tenure. It just asks that applicants complete an ASTCA employment application and to submit their resume before the deadline, as well as to include copies of credentials, if any, and transcripts. It also says that candidates selected for hire must pass examinations, pre-employment clearances, and test negative on the pre-employment drug test. ASTCA reserves the right to waive education and experience requirements as necessary.
