Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula has asked for the resignation of all board members of the LBJ Tropical Medical Center so that the administration can begin the process of submitting nominations to the Fono for confirmation.

Two board members confirmed having received identical letters from Governor Pula dated April 2, asking that they resign.

The Governor’s letter thanks the board members for their service then continue:
“At this time, we ask that you give the newly elected Pula and Pulu administration the opportunity to give other members of our community the same opportunity to serve as you have had during the previous gubernatorial administrations.

“A formal resignation letter will allow the Fono to schedule confirmation hearings for new board members. So we humbly ask you to email a resignation letter to Boards@go.asg.gov so that we may begin the process.”

The Governor adds that if no email or letter is received within 5 working days of the date of this letter, “your resignation will be presumed to have been submitted.”

Members of the Hospital Authority Board are Mualeava Dr. Aifili John Tufa-Chairman, Fonoti Douglas Jessop, Afamasaga Dr. Talifa, Rep. Faimealelei Anthony Allen, and Dr. Patrick Pedro.

KHJ News understands that letters with the exact wording were sent to other boards as well.

So far, the only board that the Governor has appointed is the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority Board.
