Medicaid Health Summit: Ensuring healthcare for all

The Medicaid Health Summit opened Monday at the American Samoa Community College Multi-Purpose Center.

With the theme, “Working Together for a Healthier American Samoa,” the three-day summit is attended by health professionals, educators, service providers, directors and lawmakers.

In her opening remarks, Medicaid Director Luisa Kuaea said her vision is to ensure that no one who needs health care is left behind. She outlined the goals of the Medicaid Office: to expand local health care services, build stronger partnerships and empower the community by keeping them informed.

Acting Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr. couldn’t attend but executive assistant and policy advisor Andra Samoa gave his remarks.

Staff of the Medicaid Office gave presentations on the services provided by the agency, eligibility, the review and approval process for the off island referral program and future improvements.
