A $10 million grant from ARPA, the American Rescue Plan Act of American Samoa, is enabling the Development Bank of American Samoa to offer affordable housing and renovation loans for eligible residents.
The loans will be offered under the DBAS Maota Affordable Loan Project.
DBAS is holding two mandatory workshops to discuss the loan application process on Friday, March 14. The first workshop is from 9am to 11am, and the second session will be from 12 to 3pm.
The $10 million award are in addition to funds that DBAS received earlier from the State, and Local Relief Funds authorized under the ARPA Act of 2021 for improvements in access to housing as a priority.
Residents are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain home loan financing. You can get more information by calling Eterei Toilolo at DBAS at 633-4031 or email eterei.toilolo@dbas.as.
On Wednesday, March 5, DBAS will be hosting what it bills as the first ever Homeowners and Tradesmen Networking mixer. The event is open to the public and is a chance for those planning to build a home to find a carpenter. DBAS is extending the invitation to building contractors and also carpenters without a license. It will be held at the Lee Auditorium from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
