With the Samoa Government signing a mutual travel visa free agreement with China, Representative Larry Sanitoa is requesting a resolution to rescind the entry permit waiver program with Samoa.

He said given growing concerns about the influx of Asians, particularly Chinese citizens, into our territory, and the uncertainties surrounding the political environment with the Samoan Government, he requested the Legislative Counsel Nathaniel Savali to organize a House Resolution on behalf of the Homeland Security Committee to be sent to Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula to rescind the entry permit waiver for security purposes.

He said canceling the permit waiver program will allow the territory time to re-evaluate the balance between the program’s benefits to our economic development and the impact to the security of American Samoa.

The American Samoa Entry Permit Waiver Program allows citizens of select countries to travel to American Samoa without obtaining an entry permit for stays of up to 30 days or less for tourism and business purposes.
