It’s off the drawing board and into construction for Alao village’s fautasi project.
Last Friday, Brendon Moore, also known as “Denny,” landed in American Samoa to build Alao’s fautasi.
Denny from New Zealand has worked in the boat building industry for nearly 20 years. His experience includes building and fitting racing and luxury yachts. Denny is one of three members of a New Zealand team that the Alao fautasi committee engaged for its fautasi project. The others are Simon and Andre.
Yesterday, Denny formally met with Alao village at an ‘ava ceremony where he remarked, “I am excited to be here to work on the Alao fautasi and I look forward to a successful project.”
Responding on behalf of Alao village, High Chief Sogimaletavai thanked Denny for “traveling to
American Samoa for the benefit of the Alao people” and assured him that “Alao has placed its trust” in his abilities and experience.
Sharing his excitement, High Chief Satele Lili’o commented, “Alao is grateful to God for guiding our plans for a fautasi, and for blessing us with Denny’s knowledge and experience, as well as Simon and Andre.”
Construction of the Alao fautasi is set to begin in the first week of January 2025 at Alao village’s newly constructed boathouse at Pago Pago Park.
