Governor and First Lady continue gift giving

Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga and First Lady Ella Mauga led the annual gift giving to Hope House, the Territorial Correctional Facility and Juvenile Detention Center with visits to the facilities, yesterday.

At Hope House the acting Chaplain of the Governor’s Office Ieremia Ieremia Jr., offered a prayer followed by music provided by the Department of Human and Social Services (DHSS) Choir.

Governor Lemanu and the First Lady Ella extended their heartfelt wishes to the elderly residents. The Governor  acknowledged the residents’ vital role in the community, expressing his sincere appreciation for their continued contributions. He said, “It’s a privilege to visit Hope House each year and give gifts as a token of appreciation for our cherished ones here. Thank you for your wisdom and service to American Samoa, which benefits our future generations.”

The Governor also thanked the management and staff of Hope House for their care of the residents, saying, “Caring for the elderly is important work, and I commend everyone here for their service. Thank you so much for your commitment and hard work.”

Representative Larry Sanitoa, Chairman of the Board for Hope House, spoke on behalf of the organization to thank Governor Lemanu, Lt. Governor La’apui, and their administration for consistently responding to their requests for essential support and for the thoughtful gifts provided each year.

As a gesture of appreciation, Hope House presented  gifts to the Governor, First Lady, and Lt. Governor.

The gift-giving wrapped up at the Territorial Correctional Facility (TCF) and the Juvenile Detention Center.
