MLB pitcher Sean Manaea reconnects with his roots

Major League Baseball pitcher Sean Manaea is back in American Samoa, reconnecting with his heritage and inspiring young athletes. Known for his no-hitter and impressive career, Manaea is visiting the islands for the first time in a decade.

Manaea will lead a boys’ pitching clinic, while girls’ softball coach Chester Tala works with young female athletes on their fundamentals. The clinics kick off tomorrow, Saturday at 8 am, at the Tony Solaita Baseball Field, featuring games, food, and live demonstrations.

Pastor Ruben Gonzalez of American Samoa Little League emphasized the importance of this visit saying “Sean’s presence is an inspiration. It’s a chance for our youth to learn from one of the best.”

Manaea is being honored with a Senate Concurrent Resolution paying tribute to his professional baseball career, and thanking him for giving back to the territory.
