Spin Out Meth Workshop teaches basics of siva afi

American Samoa is hosting a unique cultural event this week, combining youth empowerment with the promotion of traditional arts.

The Spin Out Meth workshop, organized by the Department of Youth and Women’s Affairs in partnership with Intersections, Inc. will take place this Friday, November 29th, at the DYWA Center in Tafuna from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This free workshop invites high school and college students to learn the fundamentals of fire knife dancing.

Professional instructors will teach participants not only the basic skills, but also the cultural significance of this traditional art form.

Organizers hope to offer youth a positive creative outlet, while steering them away from harmful behaviors like drug use. Loso Iaulualo of Intersections Inc explains…
