No challenges, Election Office certifies results of General Election

The Election Office has certified the results of the 2024 General Election held last Tuesday, November 5.

There were no challenges filed as of the deadline to contest the results which was 4:30 pm Tuesday, November 12.

For the Gubernatorial race, Pula and Pulu garnered 4,284 votes, 42.4% of the 10,113 votes cast; Lemanu and Laapui received 3,660 votes, 36.2%; and Vaitautolu and Taufetee received 2,169 votes, 21.4%.

A run-off election on November 19 between the teams of Pula & Pulu and Lemanu & Laapui will decide who will be Governor and Lt. Governor of American Samoa for the next four years.

The following have been elected to the American Samoa House of Representatives:

In the Congressional race, Aumua Amata received 7,394 votes, or 74.8% of the 9,888 votes cast, Luisa Kuaea garnered 1,840 votes, 18.6%, Fualaau Rosie Lancaster received 469 votes, 4.7% and Meleagi Suitonu Chapman received 185 votes, 1.9%

For the referendum on the veto override amendment, 9,765 votes were cast of which 5,631 or 57.7% were against, while 4,134 or 42.3% were in support of the amendment.
