Pacific Air Charters Inc. says it is making progress toward expanding its air charter business into American Samoa.
The Federal Aviation Administration continues to review documents which PACI has submitted to support on-demand charters using the new Traveller aircraft.
A press release from the company says an earlier FAA investigation regarding certain flights in American Samoa has been completed and closed with no action taken by the FAA, as there was insufficient evidence of any violation.
PACI currently has a total of four Tecnam Travellers leased from Pago Wings LLC.
When American Samoa operations begin, additional Tecnam Travellers will be moved to support those operations.
The company has hanger facilities at Pago Pago International Airport and at Honolulu International Airport.
Additional facilities in Hawaii include a suite of offices, training rooms, and a maintenance shop.
PACI provides aircraft maintenance services to other aircraft owners in Hawaii.
PACI currently employs 25 pilots, mechanics, and administrative personnel in Hawaii and American Samoa, and is currently accepting resumes from those who may be interested in working in either place.
Also, PACI has added Paul Casey as a strategic consultant and a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Casey is a former CEO of Hawaiian Airlines. He has 40 years of senior management leadership experience in airlines, tourism, and other industries.
Pacific Air Charters Inc. is owned by Papali’i Alofa and Leota Wanda Alofa.
PACI has operated as a Part 135 on-demand air charter service in Hawaii since 2003.
Though operations are currently limited to military contracts and private flights for the Alofa family and their businesses, PACI expects to resume on-demand charters in Hawaii in the near future, followed by on demand charter flights within American Samoa.
Future plans include scheduled service from Honolulu to Hawaii’s neighbor islands, as well as scheduled service within American Samoa.
