Ofu Beach in Manu’a is featured on a US travel website, The Travel, as one of the top colorful beaches in the US.
An article says, while Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, California, is the only one of its kind in the US, with sand that can appear to be pink and purple, there are other beaches around the country that have equally spectacular one of the kind beaches for tourists to explore.
Ofu beach is named as one of the 8 alternatives.
The article says, “The U.S. territory of American Samoa is a great place for a tropical escape, but also has a unique topographical feature that many tourists miss out on: Ofu Beach. The remote and unpopulated area of Ofu is a hidden gem beach in the U.S., not only for its pristine and untouched waters but for its sand.
“In certain conditions, the sand here can appear to be pink. The beach appears white most of the time, but the coral makeup of the sand can occasionally make the beach seem to have a pink hue.”
