The chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nu’uuli was burned to the ground early this morning.
Director of the Department of Search and Rescue, Save Liuato Tuitele, said a neighbor reported the fire at around 4 this morning.
He said the whole building was engulfed in flames when fire trucks arrived at the scene.
“Nothing could be saved,” the director told KHJ News.
When KHJ News spoke with Save this morning, he said the firefighting crews were still at the scene and there was little information to give at this stage about the fire.
